Reynoldsville- After a rainout of Opening Night last week, it was finally time to kick off the 2025 season at Hummingbird Speedway on Saturday night. The opening of the 2025 season marked the beginning of the tenure of Tim Winters as track announcer. Tim brings 40 consecutive years of motorsports announcing experience to the Bird. Due to the rainout last week, there were double trophies presented to all of the feature winners courtesy of Race-1 Motor Speedway and Ardery's Automotive Repair. Feature winners on Opening Night included: the #54S of Mitch Stiles in the D. Fenton Fabrications & Mechanical Pure Stocks, the #23 of B.J. Hudson in the Gio's BBQ Semi Late Models, the #57 of Matt Tifft in the Srock Contracting Super Late Models, the #24C of Dennis Curry Jr. in the Ken Schaffer Excavating Pro Stocks, the #50 of Bob McMillen in the Economods, and the #3H of Shawn Hadden in the Brooks Services Four-Cylinders. The win for Tifft was his first career dirt Super Late Model win, while the win for Curry Jr. came in his first race back in a Pro Stock since September of 2008.

Speedway Notes: 61 cars were in attendance for Opening Night. That breaks down to: 16 Pure Stocks, 6 Semi Late Models, 8 Super Late Models, 10 Pro Stocks, 7 Economods, and 14 Four-Cylinders. There will be no racing this coming weekend, May 17th, due to the World of Outlaws show at Marion Center. Racing will return on Memorial Day weekend, May 24th, for Armed Services Night with a regular 6-Division Program on the card. Trophies on May 24th will be sponsored by TJ's Painting. More information regarding the Memorial Day weekend's racing action and future events will be posted to the track Facebook page and website, so keep it tuned there for the latest. Gates open at 4:00 with racing beginning at 7:00. The Sub Hub Kids Club gets underway every Saturday night at 6pm by the pit gate entrance. It is a great place to take your kids to do some fun kids club activities as well as meet some drivers prior to racing getting started.
