Reynoldsville- It was a very special night at Hummingbird Speedway Saturday night as we hosted Grady's Decision Night for the fourth straight year. Grady's Decision, a 501c3 non-profit organization, was created to present a glimpse of God's love to families experiencing premature births as well as those families with children needing specialized medical attention. There was a huge Chinese Auction and other fundraisers to benefit Grady's Decision. At the end of the night, approximately $5,000 had been raised for this great cause. Three specials were held to mark such a special night of racing. The Away From Home Pet Resort Semi Late Models raced for an increased purse of $1,300/win. The #3xAA of Doug Surra took the checkers in that special, collecting his fourth win of 2024. The Jay's Automotive ULMS Racing Series made their first visit of the season with a 30-lap, $5,000/win special. The race made track history as it was the richest Late Model special ever held at the Speedway. The #7 of Drake Troutman notched his first career Hummingbird Speedway victory along with cashing in on the $5,000 payday. The Elite Motorsports UEMS Racing Series made their second and final visit of 2024 with the #23Z of former NASCAR driver Austin Wayne Self getting the win in the $1,200/win special. The Virgile Iron & Steel Pro Stocks, Scaife's Automotive & Repair LLC. Pure Stocks, and Brooks Services Four-Cylinders were also in action. The #84S of Josh Seippel was victorious in the Pro Stock division for the first time this season and for the fourth time in his career at the Bird. Tim Steis, running the #37B number in support of Bloom Family Racing, took his third trip to Dunlap Lawn & Garden Victory Lane in the Pure Stocks. The win tied Steis with Doug Surra for second on the Pure Stock win list. The #158 of Camden Frantz made it back-to-back wins in the Four-Cylinder division, giving him three wins total for his young career.
Speedway Notes: 91 cars were in attendance for Grady's Decision Night. That breaks down to: 13 Semi Late Models, 8 Pro Stocks, 23 ULMS Late Models, 13 Pure Stocks, 19 UEMS Modifieds, and 15 Four-Cylinders. With the completion of this event, the 2023 racing season has come to a close at Hummingbird Speedway. We will be back in action this coming Saturday, August 3rd, with the always popular Fan Appreciation Night. The Hoosier Racing Tire 358 Modifieds will be joining the racing program, joining our six regular divisions. There will be Kids Bike Races run at intermission as well. More information regarding this weekend's racing action will be posted to the track's facebook page and website, so keep it tuned there for the latest. Gates open at 4:00 with racing beginning at 7:00. The Sub Hub Kids Club gets underway every Saturday night at 6pm by the pit gate entrance. It is a great place to take your kids to do some fun kids club activities as well as meet some drivers prior to racing getting started.
