Reynoldsville- After last week's rainout, racing returned to Hummingbird Speedway Saturday night with the running of Ina's Memorial Shootout. The race is run every year to honor and remember the life of track co-founder and Louie's wife, Ina Caltagarone, who passed away back in 2011. 110 cars packed the pits for this special evening of racing. The region's best Homak Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks took center stage for the evening with a 25-lap, $1,500/win special to honor Ina. In a dominating performance leading from green flag to checkered flag, the #818 of Bob Connor picked up his second win of the season and his division-leading 42nd career Pro Stock win at the Bird as well as collecting the $1,500 payday. Connor mentioned in his post-race interview with track announcer Scott Martinez in Dunlap Lawn & Garden Victory Lane that winning Ina's Memorial Shootout was "my biggest win", showcasing just how prestigious the race is for all of the drivers. The Scaife's Automotive & Repair LLC. Pure Stocks, Srock Contracting Super Late Models, Brooks Services Four-Cylinders, Away From Home Pet Resort Semi Late Models, Economods, and PowderPuffs were also in action. In the Pure Stocks, the #34 of Tim Steis recorded his fourth win of the year and his 26th career Pure Stock win, putting him in sole-possession of second place on the win list behind Josh Fields. The #1B of Dwayne Brooks took the checkers for the second time this season in the Super Late Models, notching his 26th career Late Model win, and placing him in a tie with Ed Connor for fourth on the win list. In the Four-Cylinders, it was the #Z14 of Zach Lennox taking his second trip to Victory Lane this year, and his fourth career trip. The #3xAA of Doug Surra became the first driver to five wins this season after winning in the Semi Late Models, tying Nick Erskine at the top of the win list with 30 career wins each. In the Economods, the #6 of Dave Shagla recorded his second career win in an Economod in his first season in the division. The Day Spa Tan PowderPuff Race concluded the evening with the #13 of Tessa Hadden taking the checkers.

That breaks down to: 15 Pure Stocks, 20 Homak Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks, 12 Super Late Models, 35 Four-Cylinders, 9 Semi Late Models, 10 Economods, and 9 PowderPuffs. We will be back in action this coming Saturday, August 17th, with the makeup of Fan Appreciation Night. Fans will be allowed down on the track at intermission to meet and greet with their favorite drivers and get autographs and other goodies that the race teams prepare. All of our six regular divisions will be in action. The PA Thunder on the Dirt Vintage Modifieds and 358 Modifieds were originally scheduled to join the racing program on the 17th, but have since been removed due to the rescheduling of Fan Appreciation Night. More information regarding this weekend's racing action and future events will be posted to the track Facebook page and website, so keep it tuned there for the latest. Gates open at 4:00 with racing beginning at 7:00. The Sub Hub Kids Club gets underway every Saturday night at 6pm by the pit gate entrance. It is a great place to take your kids to do some fun kids club activities as well as meet some drivers prior to racing getting started.
